School's Red and Blue day for Haiti

THE children and staff at King's Park Primary School had a Red and Blue Day in aid of the Haiti Appeal last week.

The red and blue theme represented the colours of the Haitian national flag.

A total of 1,000 was raised on the day through voluntary donations from parents, friends and staff.

Mrs Lynne Chambers the charity co-ordinator in the school came up with the theme and also arranged for Mr Trevor King, a parent of the school, to speak to the morning Assemblies on ‘Life for children in Haiti’.

Mr King had been helping with the charity Compassion UK in Haiti prior to the earthquake.

Mr Terry Shields the principal of King’s Park said: "Everyone really enjoyed the theme day at school and parents, friends and staff were extremely generous in raising such a tremendous total in one day. We say a big thank you to everyone."
