Scooter clubs boost charity with ‘heroes’ run to Carrick

The charity trip from Belfast City Hall to Carrickfergus helped raise a total of £760 for three organisations: Royal British Legion, TS Warrior Sea Cadets and Andy Allen Veterans Support.

Participants also paid tribute at the Cenotaph to those who made the “supreme sacrifice” in two world wars and subsequent theatres of conflict.

Mid and East Antrim Borough Councillor Noel Jordan laid a wreath on the club’s behalf at the Joymount war memorial.

The UKIP representative said: “This was an excellent event well organised and well run with a large number of scooters, bikes and also with military vehicles on display.”

Wreaths were also laid on behalf of the Movin Targets Scooter Club, Royal British Legion Motorcycle Club and Patriots Motorcycle Club.

In a statement, A2 Aces extended thanks to all the scooter and motorbike clubs from around Northern Ireland who attended and expressed appreciation of the RBL Riders Club “who did an excellent job at marshalling the run”.

The club added: “Thanks also to East Antrim Re-enactment Group, Mr Beattie for bringing along his jeep, the standard bearers of the Royal British Legion, UDR Association, Whitehead Friends of the Fallen and Carrickfergus friends of the 36th. Special mention to our club member and chairman of the local UDR Association Stephen Weir who worked tirelessly to help organise our biggest run to date in which we raised a grand total of £760.”
