Scottish drinks-maker to launch promo in anti-booze capital

A SCOTTISH drinks manufacturer is due to launch a promotional campaign in Northern Ireland’s anti-booze capital, Londonderry.

Londonderry and Limavady are set to receive a special visit as Crabbie’s bus tour rolls into town on Wednesday, June 27.

A specially branded double-decker bus will create a stir throughout Londonderry city centre with sampling opportunities and interactive games and displays featuring Crabbie’s 1950s characters Camilla and George.

The Leith-based company will have to ensure they adhere to Londonderry’s Sharia-style anti-booze laws, however.

A Derry City Council’s 2009 bye law prohibits the consumption of intoxicating liquor in nearly every single street in the city.

The Crabbies bus will also visit a number of outlets including Kenny’s Wine Store (11am-1pm), Wine Cellars (1.30-3pm), Cheers Off Sales Limavady (4-5pm) and Gee’s Off License (6-8pm) as part of a three-week tour this side of the Irish Sea.

The Crabbie’s range features Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer, Crabbie’s Spiced Orange, a Green Ginger Wine and a Ginger Mulled Wine offering. People are being encouraged to visit the bus and take part in the jolly good fun activities onboard.
