Andrew is part of a team from Shankill Parish Church who have been working all year to help raise 40,000 to fund the Fields of Life project.

The fun at Pollock Park starts at 10am and runs to 2pm. The main event will be the five metre climbing wall which has been loaned to the club to try and raise as much money as possible to support their U15 Coach.

Andrew hopes to see all the Tigers and their parents back to enjoy the end of season charity fundraiser and barbecue.

Teas and coffees and tray bakes will be served to those not adventurous enough to attempt the climb. For younger family members the team have organised a fun train, bouncy castle and face painting. The team have a target of 1,000 and a small charge will levied on all activities.

The Ulster team have also signed a shirt which will be auctioned at the Lurgan Rugby Club formal next Friday night and a ball which will be raffled at the fun day.

On the day Ulster Rugby are sending Justin Fitzpatrick up to sign autographs and talk to youngsters.

A Viking long-ship will also be at the event. The Ellen Dhou is a third size replica of the real thing and is being loaned to the club by the Ardglass Vikings.

To celebrate the fact that Andrew’s mission in Uganda is to coach rugby the club are hosting a Cub Tag Blitz alongside the fun day. Andrew hopes that the cubs and their families will make a real morning of it and stay for a burger and even attempt the climbing wall. If the cubs can’t climb it, who can?

The fun day celebration marks the end of another good rugby season, and the start of the cricket season.

Andrew has been Youth Convenor at the club since 2003 and is stepping down after the fun day to concentrate on developing youth team players into the senior ranks at the club. To mark the occasion Andrew hopes to see lots of Tigers and club members up for a coffee or a burger on Saturday morning.
