Lisburn SDLP councillor Patrick Catney praised the Pride of Ballymacash Flute Band for the respect they showed for Diarmuid Frazer, six, who was killed after being hit by a car.

On Saturday, the band stopped at the accident spot, played a hymn and laid a wreath, while fellow loyalist marchers lowered their standards in respect.

Councillor Catney, who knows the Frazer family, said: “So many people have stopped me and said it was a very welcome tribute. It was very touching and moving.

“You hear of all the bad things [about bands]. We need to know the positives that come out as well.”
