SDLP welcome Friends of Glenariff plans

Moyle Council’s SDLP grouping of Margaret Anne McKillop, Dónal Cunningham and Catherine McCambridge has welcomed the proposals presented to Council by the ‘Friends of Glenariff’ group.

The proposals are for the development of new community facilities which will include an indoor sports hall with viewing area, changing facilities, gym/fitness suite, multipurpose use room and kitchen.

The hard working ‘Friends of Glenariff’ group hopes the development will provide a community hub for Glenariff and the surrounding area.

Councillor Margaret Anne McKillop said: “The Friends of Glenariff group can be rightly proud of their work to date. These new

proposals for will see the Oisin GAA club enjoy all the benefits of state of the art facilities which will support their teams train and compete. It will also provide outstanding opportunities for others to use the facilities, and allow much wider community group use.

“The club’s proposals are really positive. The whole community will benefit tremendously from such a high quality sporting and community environment.”

Councillor Dónal Cunningham continued “These proposals are a real boost for Glenariff and it is hoped that these plans will encourage the regeneration of the area and provide a spur for the community and the local economy. The proposals will make a significant contribution to the community infrastructure in the Glens. I wish everyone involved every success.”
