Sea Cadets celebrate 50th anniversary

Lisburn Sea Cadets is a part of one of the United Kingdom’s largest youth organisations with over 400 units and 14,000 cadets within the corps.

Congratulating the Sea Cadet Unit on their anniversary and praising them for all their work throughout the year, Deputy Mayor, Councillor Alexander Redpath said: “I was delighted to share in the 50th Anniversary celebrations with the Lisburn Sea Cadets.

“The Sea Cadets have gone from strength to strength since they reformed a few years ago. I was particularly happy to chat to a number of new cadets who recently joined the organisation.

“Lisburn and Castlereagh Council has been a firm friend to the Sea Cadets and we are proud to have them training on Council premises. The council through our involvement with the Lagan Canal Trust have exciting plans for the Lagan River and Canal. Over £40 million will be invested in the river over the next 9 years which will have a transformative impact on river users including the Sea Cadets.”
