Seamus is new President of Moyle Twinning Association

YEARS of dedication to Moyle Twinning Association has resulted in a local representative being elevated to the President's role.

Councillor Seamus Blaney was said to have steered the Association through a difficult period while also being at the helm during two exchange visits with the Association's twin region in Pourrieres, France.

At last week's annual meeting, Cllr. Blaney relinquished his role as chairman and, instead, accepted the President's office.

Cllr. Blaney, who replaces fellow councillor, Price McConaghy as President, made way for the first female chair of the Association - Margaret Gault.

Mrs. Gault has been a long-standing and committed enthusiast of twinning and was delighted to have been voted in. Her deputy is Nigel McCartney who has made a significant contribution in his short spell with the Association.

Catherine McCambridge was re-elected secretary and a new post of assistant secretary was filled by Bob Smith. Sean McCambridge continues as treasurer.

The meeting, held in Sheskburn, saw a good turn out of members who debated a new-look Constitution which seeks to advance the twinning ideals and bring the Association more in touch with the community.
