Seaside Twelfth to hear call for loyalty

The 20 lodges of the Independent Orange Order in Ireland, parading in the seaside resort of Portrush on July 12, will hear a commitment to uphold the Protestant Reformed faith and maintain the British link.

The lodges, mainly from Co Antrim, are a separate entity from the much larger Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, which has organised 18 Twelfth demonstrations this year.

In their resolutions, the Independent Orangemen also commemorate the 100th anniversary of commencement of the First World War and the 70th anniversary of D-Day landings; reject “Sabbath desecration” at all levels of society; and express “deep concern with the erosion of the institution of marriage as appointed by God”.
