Second suspected arson attack in Cookstown within days

POLICE investigating a fire at a house in the Killymoon Crescent area of Cookstown early this morning, Wednesday, are treating the incident as arson.

Although the occupants of the property, a man and woman, were unhurt, substantial damage was caused to the house.

The incident was reported shortly after 4.30am this morning.

Police and fire personnel attended the scene.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police are treating this as arson and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact CID at Cookstown Police Station on 0845 600 8000.”

The attack comes just days after another house on the Pomeroy Road of Cookstown was targeted by arson, who set fire to the front door of the property.

A toddler who was in the house with his parents, escaped uninjured.
