Security alert in Londonderry was hoax


The PSNI have announced that a security alert in Londonderry was a hoax.
The alert was in the Glengalliagh Road area of north-west of the city. The road was closed.
The PSNI announced the news at about 10.30pm on Thursday.
On Friday morning, they said: “The security alert in the Glengalliagh Road area of Derry/Londonderry is over and the road has re-opened.
“A suspicious object which was examined by Army technical officers and declared a hoax was removed from the scene and has been taken away for further forensic examination.”
