Security alert in Waterside

POLICE and Army Technical Officers have dealt with a suspicious object left outside a house in the Gobnascale area of Londonderry.

The incident, at Corrody Road was reported to police shortly before midnight. A number of homes were evacuated and the item was later declared a hoax.

The PSNI are appealing for anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area last night to contact them at Strand Road on 0845600800.

Information can also be passed anonymously through the 'Crimestoppers' charity on freephone 0800555111.

Police are also appealing for information following reports of persons in possession of petrol bombs in the Tullyalley area during the early hours of this morning August 12.

The PSNI have also received a report of fire damage to a trampoline in the Conway Park area. Again, anyone who could identify the people involved is asked to telephone police on 08456008000. Alternatively information can be passed on anonymously through the 'Crimestoppers' charity on freephone 0800555 111.
