Councillor Seeley said, “As a new council it is vital from the outset that we send a clear message to our citizens that everyone is welcome within our borough and all will be catered for. As elected representatives we have a duty and a responsibility to both build relationships, and to foster the building of relationships amongst all our communities. There is an absolute neccessity to do this regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or political persuasion.

“The appointment of the Mayor as the diversity champion highlights the important role he has, as first citizen in this borough, to lead on issues on equality and diversity.“
