Senior citizens enjoy Victorian tea party

A SOCIAL work student recently organised a Victorian tea party for local senior citizens.

Julie Thompson, a final year student on placement with the South Eastern Trust, was tasked with the job of encouraging new membership for the senior citizen community group which meets in the Sarah Crothers Centre every Wednesday evening from 7-9pm.

The evening was entitled ‘What we Wore’ and included guest speaker Valerie Wilson from the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum presenting a talk and showing some of the clothes and costumes from years gone by. Afterwards 40 senior citizens enjoyed the tea party.

This special evening was made possible only through the support of Pond Park Primary School who designed the invitations, Spences Bakery and Greens Food Fare who provided some of the refreshments and The House of Elliot Florists who arranged and donated exquisite floral arrangements.
