Sensory play area given £10,000 funding boost

A sensory play area for Lurgan has been given a £10,000 funding boost from the assembly.

SenPlay is a multi sensory play area with controlled sensory experiences for children with special and additional needs.

People with multiple disabilities often have difficulty interacting with their external environment and SenPlay is geared towards engineering environments so that specific moods and activities can be catered for.

The funding was welcomed by DUP Upper Bann Assembly member Carla Lockhart.

She said, “This did not happen overnight and I know even before I became involved there was much planning for this facility.

“I want to commend the inspiration behind it all Leanne Tammnie Grey for her vision and desire to make this a reality.

“This will be very beneficial to children with additional needs and I know many people have already visited and been impressed with what has been achieved too date.

“I was delighted that I was able to secure this funding, as it will help develop the facility further and give it a permanent home at Brownlow House in Lurgan.

“This is what being a public representative is all about, delivering for your constituents and making a real difference in peoples lives. I have been working hard since I went to the Northern Ireland Assembly and ensuring I listen to the needs of people in Upper Bann.

“This is another example of delivery. This facility is for children from across Lurgan, Banbridge, Portadown and further afield.”
