Sentinel obtains details of who's getting new street lights

Good news for people living under broken or old street lighting in some parts of the Drumahoe, Tullyally, Clooney, Maydown, Culmore Road and Galliagh areas of Londonderry: you'll be getting the late night gloom illuminated some time this year if Infrastructure Chris Hazzard doesn't run out of money.

The Sentinel has obtained the schedule of streets that are listed for replacement lights in 2016/17.

Areas of the Waterside included in the proposed programme of replacement works include: Curlew Way in Clooney; Carrakeel Drive in Maydown; Foyle Fold on the Limavady Road; Knockwellan Park in the Irish Street/Top of the Hill area; Gortica Road in Drumahoe; and Milltown Crescent in Tullyally.

Four streets on the cityside are also due to get replacement street lighting.

These are: Glenowen Park between Rosemount and Creggan; Longtower Court in the Longtower; and Moss Road and Sandale Park in the Galliagh area.

And outside the city it’s also “let their be light” for Breezemount Park in Castlederg; Gamble Park in Spamount, just outside Castlederg; and Five Acres in Strabane.

The programme was released in response to an FOI request.
