Serious assault probed in Coleraine

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault on the Ballycastle Road in Coleraine during the early hours of Monday September 26.

At around 1am it was reported that a man, aged in his 50’s, was assaulted outside a property. He was taken to hospital where he is receiving treatment for serious head injuries. His condition is described as critical.

Detectives investigating the incident have arrested two men aged 30 and 31. They remain in police custody at this time.

Detective Sergeant Wallace is appealing for anyone who was on the Ballycastle Road early this morning and who witnessed any form of altercation or anyone who has any information that can assist with the investigation to contact Detectives in Coleraine Police Station on 101, quoting reference number 39 of 26/09/16.
