Seven rescued from Lough Neagh

SEVEN people were brought to safety in a late night rescue from an island in Lough Neagh by Kinnego and Ardboe Lifeboats.

Lifeboats from Kinnego and Ardboe were tasked after reports that a vessel with seven people on board suffered engine failure at Rams Island.

The lifeboat teams were tasked at around 10.50pm on Tuesday night.

The 19ft sportsboat was discovered on the main jetty.

Ardboe lifeboat took five casualties onboard and returned them to Kinnego Marina.

Kinnego ILB took the vessel with the remaining two casualties on tow back to Kinnego.

“All casualities were handed into the care of our team with one casualty being a diabetic and required their medication,” said Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team.
