Sewer works set for a number of streets over coming weeks

This work is part of a much wider project which will identify defects in approximately 26km of Northern Ireland’s sewerage network and allow them to carry out any necessary repair or replacement work.

The project will be carried out in two stages: Stage one will involve investigative and design work. This work will be carried out during August and September 2015.

Stage two will involve the core sewer improvement work, which may include the installation of “liners” in existing pipelines or the laying of new replacement pipelines as well as other associated work.

NI Water appreciates that work of this nature can be unavoidably disruptive at certain locations, particularly where temporary road closures and traffic diversions are required. Alongside theappointed contractor, Graham Construction, they will work closely with Transport NI and other key stakeholders to minimise inconvenience and disruption.

Where possible, “low-dig” techniques will be employed, which will significantly reduce the amount of digging in the area.

It is anticipated the overall programme of work will be completed during 2016.
