SF chief wishes Dean godspeed

Sinn Féin MLA Martin McGuinness has congratulated Dean William Morton on his appointment as Dean of St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin.

Mr McGuinness said: “I want to send my congratulations to Dean William Morton on his appointment as Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin.

“During his time as Dean of St Columb’s Cathedral in Derry, Dean Morton played a significant contribution towards reconciliation in the city.

“He also played a key role in the cultural life of Derry opening up the historic cathedral to a wider audience and, as a gifted musician, with the regular concerts and recitals in the cathedral.

“Derry’s loss is certainly Dublin’s gain and I wish Dean Morton and his family well with the new role in Dublin.”
