SF congratulate Loughgiel Shamrocks

NORTH Antrim Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay and his colleague, Ballymoney councillor Anita Cavlan have given huge congratulations to Loughgiel Shamrocks, who won the Ulster Senior Hurling Championship final on Sunday.

Mr McKay said: "This is a tremendous achievement. It's great that a North Antrim team showed such quality and were in total control in the second half, beating Keady of Armagh by 2-24 to 0-6 points. This was a very polished performance by a highly fit and skillful Loughgiel and now that they have reached the All-Ireland semi-final stage I hope they continue to prosper in their All-Ireland campaign. I also want to commiserate with St. Brigid's, Cloughmills, who gave a gallant performance in losing to Grattan's of Co. Monaghan in the Junior Ulster title"

Anita Cavlan, Sinn Fin councillor for the area added: "Loughgiel were just tremendous in this final, going on to win the Ulster Senior Hurling Cup for the first time in 21 years. They were just too strong for Keady who did hold their own in the first half considering it was their first time in a final. It was a great day at Casement and I wish them all the best for their February meeting with the winner's from Leinster."
