SF urge: Activate road bonds as soon as developers stop trading

ROADS Service must put in place measures to keep tabs on property developers, East Antrim Sinn Fein MLA Oliver McMullan has urged.

He heard from minister Danny Kennedy that DRD does not receive information on whether a developer has ceased trading.

“That means there is a delay between a builder going out of business and DRD cashing in the bonds that are in place to ensure repairs can be carried out at estates, roads built and ready for adoption,” said Mr McMullan.

“It can mean years of unnecessary misery for people living in unfinished developments, of which there are many in Larne, and I believe it is time that DRD was notified immediately a developer ceases trading, so that the bonds can be cashed ias soon as possible,” he added.
