Shadow cast on sporting dream

A LURGAN man's dreams of sporting glory are in jeopardy thanks to the troublesome ash cloud.

Ten-Pin Bowler Tony O’Hare is due to travel to Jersey today (Thursday) to take part in the Senior Triple Crown tournament.

“The tournament took a year to organise - there’s teams from the UK, Ireland and the rest of Europe supposed to play at it.

It looks like it’s not going to happen.

“The whole event is in jeopardy. It’s going to be very difficult to reschedule with so many countries involved.”

Tony is part of a six-man Northern Ireland team due to compete at the annual tournament.

He continued: “It all depends on what happens in the next couple of days. We’re booked on the Easyjet flight from Belfast to Liverpool then on to Jersey.

“All the boats are fully booked. If we could get over to England we can get to Jersey, but it’s just getting to England is the problem.”
