Sharon’s fundraiser goes globe-al!

When Coleraine woman Sharon Miller organised a snow globe outside her property, she initially planned it as a festive surprise for her grandchildren.

She then decided it would be great for other children to experience it and, in the process, raise some money for charity. Sharon decided to donate all proceeds to Air Ambulance NI and her snow globe fundraiser was held from December 18-20 raising a phenomenal £1,142 and involving 155 families.

Each family was allocated a 15 minute time slot for the snow globe and afterwards they got a little present to take home. It had to be cleaned after every session before the next family bubble of children could enter.

Sharon said: “When I decided what I was going to do I set a target of £500. My family and I decided we would dress up for the occasion and decorate the front of the house to make the experience as special for the kids as possible after a very challenging and hard year.

“I didn’t charge instead asking for donations as well as a raffle with donated prizes. There was one stage through the weekend I did wonder what I had taken on, but I really enjoyed it and to say that I am overwhelmed and delighted at the generosity of everyone who came at the weekend is an understatement.

“I would like to thank each and every single person who took part and donated; whilst there are too many to mention individually but I would like to mention in particular the Fwin Woman’s group, R.H. Joinery and Ryan Hull for their generous donations it definitely didn’t go unnoticed; and to the council who helped with cleaning. The whole community has been amazing.”

Kerry Anderson at Air Ambulance NI said: “It’s fantastic that Sharon has brought such happiness to 155 children in challenging times and raised this amazing fundraising figure. She should be very proud of what she and her family have achieved.

“Thanks to everyone who has helped with organising and supporting. Keeping the Air Ambulance service operational relies on everyone doing a little. Sharon has done so much more, and we hope her efforts may inspire others to consider how they might have a little fun whilst raising some vital funds.”
