Sheila's Consumer Council tenure extended

The Department for the Economy has announced the tenure of Sheila McClelland, chair of the Consumer Council for NI, has been extended for a period of nine months, from April 1 to December 31, 2018.

Previous to this appointment, Sheila was chief executive of Carrickfergus Borough Council until the reform of local government and the amalgamation of the area into Mid and East Antrim Council in 2015.

The Consumer Council has a statutory remit to promote and safeguard the interests of consumers with specific functions in relation to energy, water, transport, postal services and food.

The chair post is remunerated at £22,876.50 per annum.
