Sheskburn usage up by a third

THE number of users at Ballycastle’s Sheskburn Recreation Centre was up by around a third in December compared to the same month last year.

Moyle Council figures show there were 3,331 users in December 2011 compared to 2,478 in December 2010.

A Council report said: ‘The Recreation Centre user figures are up on those for the same period last year. December is a transitional month in that many courses finish up early for Christmas and do not start until the middle to end of the January.

‘The centre hosted several events in December including Bun Scoil an Chastail’s Christmas concert, gymnastic displays, etc. User figures for December 2010 were significantly affected by the terrible weather conditions which caused several cancellations at short notice.’
