Shipquay Street designers to display debut collections

Up and coming designers from the new Design Hub in Shipquay Street will be launching debut collections at an Industry workshop in the Guildhall tomorrow.

The designers will then be competing in the Fashion Futures competition in the Tower Hotel catwalk show on Thursday night and displaying their creations at Pop-Up shops in Pump street on Saturday.

The designers are Leona Cregan who weaves her own fabric and combines her weaves with leather, silk, satin, her aim is to give the traditional woven/tweed process a contemporary slant; Nicole McLaughlin a screen printer/digital printer, who is creating her first range of printed dresses based on childhood; Rebecca Cregan a print designer, who specialises in digital and screen printing and who creates versatile prints suitable for both fashion and interior use; and Claire Mullan, behind M I R A K I, a purveyor of hand crafted embellished accessories inspired by temples visited on past travels in South East Asia, who building on industry experience, uses leathers, leatherettes, glass beads locally sourced from fabric stores in Londonderry.
