Shoot the Messenger have big ambitions for 2015

Up-and-coming Londonderry indie rock outfit, Shoot The Messenger, have big plans for the New Year.

The four piece intend using the platform of a busy Winter gigging and recording schedule to catapult themselves to a wider audience in 2015.

They’re currently in the process of refining and recording material for a new release in January.

STM have no plans to confine their ambitions and are aiming to take their music far and wide in the coming months.

Lead guitarist Jake Smith said: “It’s a great opportunity to have my passion so accepted and even promoted and encouraged.

“I am happy with our success in the local scene so far, and I hope this leads on to greater things for Shoot The Messenger.”

STM are part of a new wave of young music fermenting in Londonderry alongside Riot Upstairs and Arctic Crescent.

They came to public attention after playing a slot in the Music City Event in June and are comprised of aforesaid lead guitarist Jake, bass player Caolan Moore, drummer Lauren Kelly and vocalist player Brooke Logan.

They have been appearing across stages throughout the city, most including during the hugely successful Music Trail.

They will be supporting the Bonnevilles in Mason’s Bar tonight (Friday, December 5) and in the Atlantic Lounge, Portrush on (Saturday, December 6).

They will be playing their final show of 2014 on December 19 as part of the Set The Stage event, supporting the likes of Paddy Nash, Making Monsters and The Bonnevilles, among others at the Nerve Centre.

They, along with their contemporaries, have been encouraged by the legacy of City of Culture.
