Shop raided twice

TWO raids were reported at a Larne newsagent in a matter of days last week.

On Wednesday (November 9), staff at Apsleys on Main Street were locking up at 6.30pm when two men entered the premises wearing balaclavas and armed with hammers.

They threatened staff before making off with the till drawer containing money, as well as a quantity of cigarettes.

No one was injured during the incident, but staff were left very badly shaken.

One of the men is described as being approximately five feet four inches tall, wearing a dark jacket, jeans and a light-brown balaclava. Both are described as being quite young.

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact Larne CID on 0845 600 8000. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.

As reported in the Times last week, two men were charged and remanded in custody in connection with an attempted robbery at the shop early last Monday morning.
