Shoplifter to be sentenced

Margaret Anne Steenson (59), whose address was given as Portlec Place, Lurgan, admitted stealing foodstuffs valued at £50.16 from Tesco in Lurgan on August 28 when she appeared at court last Wednesday.

The court heard she left the store after paying for some items but not for others.

She was stopped outside and paid for the outstanding items before being arrested.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, noted that 
Steenson had been given a probation order in June and two months after it commenced she 
committed this offence.

He felt that a pre-sentence report would be of assistance to see how the order was now going.

Judge Bates adjourned the case until October 29 so that the report could be 
prepared.
