Eager shoppers gathered in Larne’s Main Street on Tuesday morning for the opening of the new Tesco Express store.

A total of 18 new jobs have been created with the opening of the new store, situated on the site of the former Dorothy Perkins shop.

The 2,117 sq ft store offers a full line-up of essential groceries, including frozen foods, a bakery, soft drinks, tinned goods, fruit and vegetables, sandwiches and snacks, ready meals as well as health and beauty, and household items.

Other services include the Lottery, an ATM machine and top-up facilities making this a convenient one-stop shop.

Store manager Paul Abraham, said: “The people of Larne have been anticipating Tesco coming here for quite some time, and the Tesco Express store is the right format to offer convenience and good value to local shoppers.

“The new outlet will definitely bring something extra to the town’s retail mix as well as more choice and good value for money for the community.”

There will be three till points and a self-scan option at the new Tesco Express which will be open from 7am to 11pm, seven days a week.

The Larne store brings the total number of convenience outlets in Northern Ireland to 16.
