Shops and car targeted in Magherafelt '˜spree of vandalism'

A spree of vandalism in Magherafelt town centre has been condemned.

Windows in two business premises and a parked car were targeted on St Patrick’s night.

DUP group leader on Mid Ulster Council Councillor Paul McLean said this type of behaviour is totally unacceptable and those responsible held to account.

He said large sums of money are being invested in an effort to enhance the entire town-scape with the upgrading of shop fronts and the public realm.

“Yet we have individuals who go on the rampage causing mayhem and bring bad Press,” he said.

Police investigating said the damage was caused to the premises in Queen Street and Market Street sometime overnight between 17th and 18th March.

The window of a parked car was also damaged in the same area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable McCann in Magherafelt by calling 101.
