Shouted at police

A LURGAN man who admitted being disorderly on two separate occasions, has been sentenced to a total of two months imprisonment, suspended for two years.

James John Bell (21), of Mark Street, was also fined 50 at Craigavon Magistrates Court on Friday, for each of the offences.

A prosecuting lawyer said the first of the offences took place on July 24, 2008, when Bell shouted abuse at an officer at Craigavon Courthouse.

He said the other offence was committed at Enniskeen on March 30 last. On this occasion, Bell had made a gesture to police officers, and when they spoke to him about his behaviour, he became aggressive and used unacceptable language to them.

Defence counsel, Miss Ciara Murphy, said her client had apologised for his actions and said he had not re-offended since completing a period of probation.
