Shouted at police after drinking binge

A 32-year-old man was given a suspended prison sentence last Thursday at Craigavon court for a disorderly behaviour charge.

Paul McCartney, of Clendenning Way, Portadown, was sentenced to two months in prison, suspended for two years.

The court heard that on May 22 at 8.35am police were called to Clanrolla Park in Craigavon after a 999 call about a disturbance.

McCartney was in a group of four males who were shouting and swearing loudly. They were told to calm down but he continued to shout loudly.

There was a smell of drink on his breath. He shouted obscenities at police and was arrested for disorderly behaviour.

Mr Richard Monteith, representing the defendant, said McCartney had been drinking from the afternoon of the day before and he just recalls falling down and very little else.

He was exceptionally drunk and did not pay any heed to the warnings, added Mr Monteith.
