Show Your Support for Armed Forces Day

To show support from the Ballymoney Borough, the Armed Forces Day Flag will be flying from the Council’s Offices at Riada House.

You are invited to attend the Remembrance service on Saturday at 11am at Ballymoney Cenotaph.

The service will be led by Chancellor Robin Lavery, Chaplain to Royal British Legion, Ballymoney Branch.

A spokesperson for the organisers said: “The UK Armed Forces defend the UK and its interests. They are busy working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers and providing security and fighting terrorism.

“Our support for the Armed Forces provides a much valued morale boost for the troops and their families.”

Following the service, a tree planting ceremony will take place in the town’s Riverside Park, at 11.45, to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Furthermore, following the service, music from the forties will be in the town centre thanks to DJ Barry Thompson, to add that touch of nostalgia to the occasion.

Later that afternoon, the show will fast forward a decade and everyone is invited to take part in the “Back to the 50s” themed parade ahead of the Mayor’s Show.

All things 50s, including film and fashion, are actively encouraged from both children and grown ups! The parade starts from the Town Hall at 2.45pm and finishes in Castlecroft Square. Just turn up at 2.30pm in all your fifties finery!
