Shrek proves a big hit with SPAR customers

THE SPAR stores in Rathcoole and King's Crescent welcomed a very special visitor from 'Far-far away' recently.

Staff and customers at both local stores enjoyed a visit from everyone’s favourite ogre, Shrek when he jetted into Newtownabbey to promote the new movie ‘Shrek Forever After’ and the Shrek soft toy promotion running in stores now.

Delighting fans young and not so young, the friendly ogre posed for photos and joined customers as they enjoyed tasty treats and in-store fun such as face painting and balloon modelling.

Lisa Wallace, Store Manager of SPAR King’s Crescent, commented: “The visit from Shrek was a great event and the locals and their children really enjoyed it. There were a lot of excited faces around which was lovely to see, and everyone was getting really excited about our in-store promotion.”

Running in conjunction with the release of ‘Shrek Forever After’, local SPAR stores are offering customers the chance to collect special stamps when they spend 5 in-store. Once they collect six stamps on their Shrek Saver Card, available in-store, customers can redeem them for a Shrek soft toy from the collection of four including Shrek himself, his unwitting sidekick, Donkey, Puss and Gingy, for a reduced price of only 3.99 each.

Arlene Simmons, Store Manager at SPAR Rathcoole added: “With the launch of the final Shrek movie ‘Shrek Forever After’ we are delighted to be able to offer customers this special saving on the fantastic range of soft toys of the four most popular characters from the family friendly movie.”

The in-store soft toy offer will run until September 5, with customers still able to redeem their saver cards until September 12.
