SIB said FortGeorge was inLimavady area

THE body responsible for investment strategy in Northern Ireland had to be told by a member of the public that Fort George was in Londonderry, it has emerged.

A member of the public told Northern Ireland’s Strategic Investment Board Limited (SIB) that Fort George was in Londonderry after the landmark regeneration site was included in an investment activity report for the Limavady area.

The blooper has since been corrected according to First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

Foyle MLA Colum Eastwood asked why “the regeneration of Fort George was included in the Investment Strategy for Northern Ireland - Investing Activity Report for East Londonderry, when the site was located within the Foyle constituency.”

The OFMDFM Ministers said a member of the public pointed out the mistake and it has now been corrected.

“During the public consultation on the Investment Strategy for Northern Ireland it was brought to the attention of the Strategic Investment Board that the regeneration of Fort George was included in the Investment Strategy for Northern Ireland – Investing Activity Report for East Londonderry instead of the Foyle constituency in error and this has now been corrected.”
