Sightseeing bus back on the road

BELFAST'S Big Red Bus was back on the streets to resume their sightseeing tours, just in time for Easter, after being attacked in a depot in Newtownabbey last month.

Staff worked around the clock to ensure visitors and tourists were not disappointed over the Easter break.

Vandals smashed their way into a local bus depot with sledgehammers. They smashed 13 windows and caused serious damage to the engines by spraying fire extinguishers into the fuel tanks.

The incident took place some time between 6.30pm and 10.30pm on March 28.

In total, the vandals caused more than 9,000 worth of damage.

Director, Robert Wilson paid tribute to his staff and the many hotels and tourism organisations who offered support and assistance after the attack.

He commented, “I am really proud of the staff, who worked so hard to get the operation back up and running so quickly and thank the many hotels, along with The Welcome Centre and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, who offered support and assistance to ensure we were back in operation before Easter."
