* GEORGE Cooper, playing off a nine handicap, returned a fine 41 points over the Dunluce links at Royal Portrush Golf Club to win the Saturday Stableford competition by two shots.

George birdied the eight and ninth to score 23 out and a steady 18 back did the trick. In silver position came Gary Finnegan (9) with 39 points helped by a birdie at the ninth.

Gary was four shots clear of his father, John, who off his 12 handicap scored 35 to take the bronze prize.
