Sign up for Michael’s Big Stroll

BIG-hearted people in the borough are being invited to witness some wonderful scenery while fighting devastating meningitis during the popular Michael’s Big Stroll Northern Ireland.

Whether you have been affected by meningitis, know someone who has, want to get fit or see picturesque places - this is the perfect chance. The 18-mile walk, on Saturday, June 22, takes in counties Londonderry and Antrim, starting in Coleraine and ending at beautiful Ballycastle on the coast.

Highlights include fantastic mountains and green scenery and the Causeway Coast - all the while fundraisers will be fighting the deadly disease. It marks the 10th anniversary of the passing of 18-year-old Michael Clarke, of Derry, to meningitis, just before getting his A Level results.

He had his life ahead of him and his results were enough to see him train as a teacher, so now his family and friends are keen to protect everyone else from the awful disease. Meningitis can strike within hours and is notoriously difficult to detect, often presenting only flu-like symptoms.
