Sign up for the Poppy Club at Bennet House

BENNET House, the British Legion’s Poppy Break Centre in Portrush, is now the venue for a weekly Poppy Club which has been financially supported by the Bennet House Amenity Fund.

Poppy Club is open to serving and ex-service members of the armed forces and their families and membership is free.

The club’s activities will change from month to month and includes pottery sessions, felt craft and decopage. The club will also host talks, demonstrations amd exhibitions.

Applicants will be required to provide evidence of your eligibility, for example your service number or service record book.

Here are some of the forthcoming activities:

* Friday, April 26, 10am to 12.30pm: Poppy Felt Craft (8 places). Make your own vintage poppy.

* Friday, May 3, 10am to 12.30pm: The Fallen of the Causeway Coast presentation by Glenda Rodgers (15 places). Glenda will be looking at the servicemen and women who gave their lives in World War 2.

* Friday, May 10, 10am to 12.30pm: Chocolate Workshop (10 places). Two-and-a-half hours of true chocolate indulgence where two chocolatiers will guide you through the art of making your very own chocolates.

* Friday, May 17, 10am to 1.30pm (approx): Garvagh Museum outing (12 places). Enjoy a morning outing to Garvagh Museum.

* Friday, May 24, 10am to 3.30pm (approx): National Trust experience (12 places), lunch included. A visit to Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and the Giant’s Causeway.

* Friday, May 31: 10am to 12.30pm: Northern Ireland Phoenix Project. Adrian Duplock will discusee the wide range of services available to ex-Service personnel who served during the Troubles.

RBL/CAB Benefits and Money Advice Service (15 places). Free and confidential advice to serving and ex-service personnel, their families and carers for dealing with money worries, including checking entitlement to state benefits and dealing with debt.
