'Similarities to Omagh chilling'

ULSTER Unionist MLA for Upper Bann, George Savage, has expressed his horror

at Saturday's bomb attack.

“For any attack to be described as having ‘stark similarities’ with the bomb in Omagh over a decade ago is chilling to say the least.

“The fact that three young, innocent children were injured due to a misleading warning demonstrates very clearly that these individuals do not care who gets caught up in their brutality.

"The date on which it happened can be no coincidence.

“For these people to be mimicking an atrocity on that scale – and with the resonance it still carries today - beggars belief.

“I, along with all right-minded members of this community, condemn those responsible for Saturday’s inhumane attack. My thoughts are with the children affected and their families – I am sure they are still deeply shocked by how close they came to tragedy.

“There is no place for the dissident agenda in a peaceful Northern Ireland, and I would ask anyone with information to make it available to the PSNI as a matter of urgency.

“It is essential that we pull together to stamp out this threat and protect our loved ones.”
