Simon takes top accolade

LOCAL Photographer Simon O'Neill at Ciaran O'Neill Photography recently took the PPANI (Professional Photography Association of Northern Ireland) by storm.

He has become the youngest ever professional photographer to win the prestigious title of Northern Ireland Professional Photographer of the Year 2010.

Simon is the nephew of Ciaran O’Neill, an NI and UK winner in his own right. In a night to remember held recently Simon not only scooped the top accolade but also PPANI Classical Wedding Photographer of the Year, PPANI Avante Garde Wedding Photographer of the Year, Fashion Photographer of the Year and Wedding Photographer of the Year!

A fantastic achievement, which makes him the youngest ever photographer to scoop the title at the tender age of 29!

Simon joined Ciaran O’Neill photography in 2002 as a Digital Artist and Ciaran quickly saw his potential as a photographer and took him under his wing: ”I saw a young version of myself with the same drive and passion for my art," he said and as this year's awards show his belief in Simon was certainly well founded.

So, has the student become the master? Ciaran laughed: "I will let him have his moment, maybe I taught him too well, but the stakes are raised now and a little healthy competition is good for business and us, it will stop us becoming complacent."
