Award-winning chef Paula McIntyre cooked up some bite-size beauties like Soda farl, grilled Glenarm sirloin beef and Made with Love chutney and Cavanagh free range egg frittata with Young Buck cheese, guanciale and Roy Lyttle leeks.

On Monday night there was also a private reception for the companies.

Speaking following the event, Mr Simpson said,

“I was delighted with the showcase put on by each of the producers who attended this special ‘Taste of Ulster’ event. The venue was packed to capacity throughout the day and it was an excellent opportunity for Members of Parliament from across the UK to get a taste of what Northern Ireland has to offer.

I was proud to meet the representatives from our local companies and hear of the many success stories that have pathed their way to Westminster to showcase the excellent food they produce.

“Watching political leaders from across the UK revel in Northern Ireland produce was a privilege for me and something that our entire country should be proud of.

“The standard of food that we produce here is massive and this was reflected in the atmosphere that filled the room. I wish to place on record my thanks to ‘Food NI for organising the event and I know this appreciation will be felt by all who attended. I pay tribute to the hard work and dedication of all those within Northern Ireland’s food industry and it is events like this which really display Northern Ireland at its finest.”
