Scotsman Ian, who is perhaps best known for his contemporary rendition of the Psalms, will be performing at the Burleigh Drive church on Friday, May 30.

Ian is no stranger to Northern Ireland having visited many times before and the evening coincides with the release here of his latest recording, ‘Reach Across’.

In this, he finds himself, through the title track, considering communities in Scotland as well as reaching across the ocean to Nashvile and Kentucky.

Ian has travelled the world, produced more than 20 albums, and has combined sales from his Scottish-based record label, Little Misty Music, of around a quarter of a million units.

His visit is the latest musical celebration at Woodlands Presbyterian Church. Last month, African Children’s Choir, which was on a tour of the province, was hosted for a number of days before Easter with the singers performing to a packed church. The choir members also enjoyed a visit to Carrickfergus Castle.

Married to Carol, the couple have two boys and Ian’s ministry, according to a statement from Woodlands Church, accommodates a wide spectrum of worship styles and he always includes a children’s section in his concerts.

The church, which is inviting people to join them for the evening, points out there are no tickets, but a donation will be received at the door to support Ian’s music ministry. Copies of his new CD, which features “accessible, easy to sing worship songs” will be available on the evening.
