Anti-Protestant slogans including ‘KAH’ and ‘No Huns Allowed’ were daubed on the outer wall of the Clanmil Housing development at Mill Road on Sunday, July 12.

The graffiti was removed when construction workers returned to the site after the holidays, on Wednesday, July 15.

Work is progressing on 97 new homes at the former Felden Training Centre campus, with the first phase of completed properties expected to be allocated to tenants within a matter of weeks.

Condemning the sinister graffiti attack, Mr Dodds said: “This development is a major investment in creating a shared social housing neighbourhood. Those responsible for this graffiti have made a pathetic attempt to undermine that work.

“This is new housing land on what was previously a shared training facility. I am determined that it should succeed as a sustainable Shared Future Development and I am confident that it can do so with the support of all communities.”

The DUP man added: “This sectarian graffiti will be condemned by all right-thinking people. I welcome that Clanmil Housing Association moved quickly to have it removed. Some graffiti was also scrawled on road signs in the vicinity and my office has contacted TransportNI to have this removed also as quickly as possible.”

A spokesperson for Clanmil Housing Group commented: “We hope shortly to be in a position to allocate the first of the houses.

“The homes will be allocated in line with the rules of the common selection scheme for social housing.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming families to the first 11 homes at the development in late summer, and to the second phase soon after. Further phases will be released as they are completed.”
