Sinn Fein close door on parades

DUNLOY Sinn Fein councillor Philip McGuigan has said that the agreement at Hillsborough and subsequent parades report has no bearing on the situation in Dunloy.

In a statement this week, Councillor McGuigan said: “As far as the people of Dunloy are concerned the issue of Loyal Order parades in the village has been resolved and I envisage very little that will happen in the future that will have any impact on the current situation.

“No decision making body regardless of its set up is going to force a parade through this village against the wishes of the residents.”

Councillor Mc Guigan also welcomed recent comments from both Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness were both stated that no parades should take place in areas such as Dunloy and the Garvaghy road without the consent of local residents.

“We are now in the 21st centuary and I believe the Orange Order should catch up with the rest of us who have moved on and parade in the in places were they are welcomed and cause no offence.”
