Sinn Fein meet Causeway Coast and Glens Council chief

The progress in terms of harmonisation of services since the four legacy councils merged and work ongoing in the council area were discussed.

The group included Oliver McMullan MLA from East Antrim, Daithí McKay MLA from North Antrim and Cathal Ó hÓisín MLA and Caoimhe Archibald from East Derry.

Following the meeting Ms Archibald said “It was useful to get an update on the progress that has been made over the past six months since the supercouncil took over, and plans for the medium and long term for streamlining the services and procedures across the whole area.

“We also had an interesting discussion on a range of issues including plans for tourism, economic development and rural proofing; legislation still outstanding to transfer powers to council and also European funding opportunities.

“As more powers are transferred to council there are excellent opportunities for development across the whole area and it was good to hear of the plans which are in place, and still being developed, to maximise on this.”
