Speaking after the meetings Mr O’Dowd said: “Over this last number of years there has been considerable investment in town centres across the new council area such as Portadown and Lurgan and I am keen to ensure Banbridge benefits from any new investment coming forward form Council or central government.

“The council are keen to play their part and are working with traders and other interested groups to achieve the very best for Banbridge. I have also recently secured agreement from the Minister of Finance, Máirtín Ó Muilleoir, to visit the town and meet with traders in the near future.

“It is now time to start planning for the next phase of regeneration to ensure the town, villages and its rural hinterland are future proofed and fit to deliver services and an attractive environment for our citizens to live, work and relax in.

Concluding Mr O’Dowd said; “Banbridge town and its hinterlands can be assured that its voice can and will be heard at the very top level of government both local and central and I believe there are positive outcomes ahead.”
