Sixteen return to the Londonderry stage

The Sixteen, return to Londonderry this Autumn, for the City of Derry International Choral Festival.

The group is the first guest artist for the fourth edition of the autumn festival, which this year is due to take place from Wednesday, October 19, until Sunday, October 23.

Following the success of their first appearance at the festival in 2014, the world-renowned The Sixteen return for an evening concert as part of the festival programme on Friday, October 21.

A UK-based choir, they are hailed as one of the world’s greatest ensembles and have toured Europe, Japan, Australia and the Americas appearing at concert halls and festivals worldwide for more than 35 years.

Dónal Doherty, Artistic Director of the festival, said: “Following their outstanding concert in The Guildhall as part of the 2014 festival, we are delighted that Harry Christophers and The Sixteen have made room in their busy schedule to revisit the City of Derry International Choral Festival”.

The festival is currently welcoming applications for participation in the International Competition, national competitions for equal voice, mixed voice, youth, vocal ensembles, sacred, barbershop, popular, Gospel and jazz, school categories in unison and partsong. The deadline is Friday, May 6 or for all other participation (including non-competitive) the deadline is Friday, June 10.
